Scott E. Johnson
March 11, 2026

Scott Johnson, 57, of Delano, Minnesota, passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2026 after a hard-fought battle with his fifth cancer diagnosis. He was born April 28, 1968 in Franklin Park, Illinois, to Bill and Judy (Clink) Johnson.

Scott’s family moved to Edina, Minnesota in 1979. He graduated from Edina High School in 1986. An avid swimmer, Scott was an All-American Athlete in high school and went on to swim for two years in college at Michigan Technological University in Houghton, Michigan. He returned home to Edina and received his AA from Normandale Community College before eventually graduating from Crown College in 1998 with a degree in Management and Ethics.

On April 17, 1993, Scott married Jeanine Theis (Delano). They began their married life in Plymouth, then St. Michael, and in 2003 they moved to Delano. Their son, Parker, was born in 1998 and their daughter, Faith, was born in 2003.

Scott spent decades as an IT Project Manager, leading teams, mentoring, coaching, and guiding. His intelligence, patience (most of the time), and problem-solving skills were admired and respected by colleagues and friends. He also volunteered as a cub scout leader, confirmation mentor, interim children’s director, coach, and participated in many ministry teams.

From an early age, Scott loved superheroes. From comic books to movies, he knew the background of each one. Between Marvel and DC comics, he favored Marvel, with his favorites being Spiderman and Wolverine. But his strength and determination in battling a life-long journey of cancer, earned him the nickname, “Superman”.

Scott enjoyed cooking/grilling, a hot strong cup of black coffee, and a good cold glass of beer. He also played a determined game of Mario Kart, even though he always came in last. The joy of participating with his family was far more important to him than competition. He was the math and science homework helper and he left the reading, writing, and spelling homework help to Jeanine. He was incredibly stubborn, but not in a negative way (at least most of the time), but he knew what he wanted and needed, and he stood firm in his convictions. When any of us were faced with a question or challenge, Scott provided the best advice without forcing his opinions. He guided the conversation and encouraged all of us to make a decision that was honest, just, and true to whatever our hearts and minds needed…and then he supported that decision. He was quick-witted, funny, and had a big, loud, hearty laugh! He was often heard saying, “You can’t fix stupid.” He was a softie at heart and wasn’t afraid to tell us…or anyone…“I love you!” His hugs were big, tight, and warm. He was a protector, who made all of us feel safe.

His faith in God was quiet and strong and he held it close to his heart. But if conversation allowed or when he was invited to speak about it, he did so with immense passion and joy for the miracles and blessings he received throughout his life.

Scott’s absolute biggest joy in life wasn’t his career, or superheroes, or anything superficial. His biggest joy was his family. Jeanine. Parker. Faith. They were his everything. He absolutely loved being a dad and he enjoyed every stage of Parker’s and Faith’s lives, from babies to the adults they are today. He was so very proud of both of them, not because of what they did, but because of who they are. He will forever be their hero.

Though his story ended far too soon, Scott leaves behind an example of courage, love, and faith that will continue to inspire everyone who was blessed to know him.

Scott was preceded in death by his dad, Bill, and three little ones who left before they entered this world. He is survived by his wife of almost 33 years, Jeanine; his children Parker (girlfriend Brittany Larson), Faith (boyfriend Cole Koets); mother, Judy Johnson in Prior Lake; brother and sister-in-law, Todd Johnson and Denise Kellison in Bellaire, TX; as well as in-laws, nieces, uncles, aunts, and cousins.

A service celebrating Scott’s life was held on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Watertown, Minnesota. Visitation was at the church from 9:00-11:00 am. The funeral was at 11:00 am with lunch to follow at the church.
