Susan Merigail Kokesh

Sue was “one of a kind”. Sassy, Classy, and never afraid of giving her opinion. She was artistic and creative, encouraging and supportive.
She was the daughter of Hank and Beatrice (Kraft) Nelson, sister of Gary Nelson and grew up in Excelsior. She married Frank Kokesh on 11/3/1956; married for 64 years.

Loving Mother of Brenda Henney (William), Cheryl Nelson (Lee), Renee Lenkart, Dan Kokesh (Jammie) and Suzy Bethke (Troy). Grammy of Will Henney, Katie and Lily Lenkart, Hannah, Liz and Frank Kokesh, and Olivia, Scott, and Holly Dinella Bethke. Great Grammy of Breckyn Osborn.

Frank and Sue were avid, knowledgeable horse lovers, and bred and raced horses. They built a stable in Ocala Florida and were owners of the Last Straw Farm in Orono; great hunter/jumper parents to all 5 of us, and lovers of all animals. Sue was a perfectionist wood finisher for Frank’s Wally’s Woodworking.

Frank and Sue also lived in Minnetonka, Delano and Minnetrista. Sue spent the last year of her life in New Germany under the love and care of her daughter Suzy Bethke.

A private service was held on Saturday 4/2/2022.
