Allen Theodore Decker age 75 of Paynesville, formerly of Waverly passed away on Friday, October 31, 2014. He was born February 6, 1939 in Waverly, Minnesota to Alfred and Evelyn (Sisson) Decker.
Allen was united in marriage to Hazel L. Wurm on October 21, 1967 in Beaverton, Oregon. He served in the Navy during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged after 20 years at the Rank of STC E-7. He retired from General Motors in Kokomo, Indiana in 2002. In 2004, Allen and Hazel moved to Paynesville.
Allen was a member of the American Legion, Koronis Hills Golf Course and the Paynesville Sportsman’s Club. Allen loved to spend time in the outdoors- hunting or fishing, especially fly fishing. He was an avid golfer and rode his bicycle right up until his last months.
Allen was preceded in death by his parents Alfred and Evelyn Decker and a sister Yvonne. He is survived by his wife Hazel; daughter Deborah (Jay) Gillis; grandchildren Patrick, Meghan, Shawn (Kendall) and Caitlin; and sisters Annette and Sandy.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial was held on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Church of St. Mary in Waverly, Minnesota. Gathering of family and friends was at the church from 9 to 11 a.m. on Thursday prior to the Mass. Inurnment with Military Honors was in the church cemetery.
