George Edward Fake, Jr. age 72 of Delano passed away peacefully on Monday, October 28, 2019 with his family by his side. He was born on September 28, 1947 in Watertown to George and Leona (Schaust) Fake.
George grew up helping on the family farm that was built by his grandfather and grandmother, Joseph and Julia Fake. He continued to farm until his retirement. George also worked as a realtor in the Delano area. He was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church. George loved his family, spending time with friends near and far, fishing, hunting and traveling Alaska for many summers. Alaska became a second home, as well as up north in Akeley, MN, where he made many new friends. George had a vibrant personality and made friends everywhere he went. He had a special way of making people laugh and smile. George’s motto in life was “work hard and play harder”.
George was preceded in death by his parents; sister Carol Jean Butler; nephew Jeff Breuer; great nephew Max Brueggemeier. He is survived by his children Deb (Dan) Hoen, Joe (Jane) Fake, Theresa (Jim) Schultz; grandchildren Robert Hoen, Larissa (Jon) Skoglund, Jacob Hoen (fiancé Kerissa Rosier), Samantha Fake, Erin Schultz, Julia Fake, Adam Schultz, Lily Fake, Tezlah Schultz; great granddaughter Charlotte Skoglund; siblings Ron (Mary) Fake, Mary (Ed) Raser, Rose (Roger) Shadow, Kevin (Jeri) Fake; as well as many other relatives and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 AM on Monday, November 4, 2019 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Delano. Visitation was on Sunday, from 4-8 PM and continued Monday, from 10-11 AM all in Martha’s Hall of St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Inurnment in Calvary Cemetery at a later date.
