Mulligan

Michael Wayne, age 77 of Delano, formerly Luverne, MN, passed away on October 2, 2025. He was born on April 26, 1948, in Heron Lake, MN, to Charles and Esther (Snyder) Mulligan.

Mike was one of 10 children and spent his early childhood in Hardwick, MN later moving to Luverne, MN where he attended school.

Mike Joined the United State Marine Corp on February 28, 1968, where he spent a couple years on board the U.S.S. Coral Sea in Vietnam earning several accommodations including the title, Sergeant. Once back in the states Mike was stationed in San Francisco, CA where he finished his career in the US Marine Corp.
Mike also joined the band, “Steve Ellis and the Starfires where he played in Southern MN. In 2011 the band was inducted into the South Dakota Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Mike married Janice Hisken in 1969 and settled in Delano, MN where they raised their 3 children. Mike worked for an appliance wholesale company as their operations manager for many years, after the company downsized Mike changed careers and started driving for Smith Trucking finally retiring in 2022. Mike spent the last 20 years in Magnolia MN, with his friend Marcia where they loved to camp, fish, hunt, and enjoy the outdoors.

Mike is preceded in death by his parents Charles and Esther; brothers, Robert, Donald, Eugene, John, James, Richard Mulligan and sisters Rosemay Moerke and Carol Van Orden.

He is survived by his children Christopher Mulligan of Delano, MN, Laura (Greg) Hausladen of Waverly, MN and Sarah (Tim) Stoeger of Eden Prairie MN; grandchild Dylan Dority of Montrose, MN; brother Bill (Mary Lou) Mulligan of Luverne, MN; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
