John Arthur Spartz “Sparky”, age 70 of Waverly, passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 2020 surrounded by his family. He was born on April 30, 1950 in Minneapolis to Carlyle and Helen (Christopherson) Spartz.
John was a loving husband, dad, grandpa, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend. He was united in marriage to Jayne Heller on August 31, 1968 in Minneapolis. He worked at Mid America Dairyman for 30 years until his retirement. He loved fishing, hunting, and spending time outdoors. He was a master checker player and enjoyed traveling with family.
John was preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law, two nephews and a niece. He is survived by his wife of almost 52 years Jayne; children Jennifer Otto, Jay (Denise) Spartz and Justine Spartz; grandchildren Lane Otto, Logan Otto, Matthew Spartz and Sarah Spartz; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-Merrie (Marty) Olson, Glen (Mary) Heller, Cathy Moe, Cindy (Scott) Montgomery, Doug (Sheila) Heller, Mark (Patti) Heller, and Kim (Ed) Hanson; goddaughter Tanya Luhmann; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
A Memorial Service was held at 11 AM on Monday, June 22, 2020 at the Iten Funeral Chapel in Delano. A Gathering of family and friends took place from 9-11 AM on Monday prior to the service. Private family inurnment was in the Howard Lake Cemetery.
