Henry W. Carlson Jr. age 87 of Independence passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2022. He was born December 4, 1934 to Henry and Alice (Conley) Carlson in Boston, Massachusetts.
Henry was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He attended Northeastern University graduating Magnum Cum Laude in 1966 with a degree in Engineering. He went on to make a career at Honeywell where he retired after 30+ years of service.

Henry was united in marriage to Anne Louise Wolf since 1986. They made their lives together and enjoyed their combined families becoming one. He was always there for those he loved and was known for taking care of things. He was not one to be dependent on others. Henry possessed a confidence that allowed him to excel at anything he put his mind to. If someone needed electrical work, he didn’t just help; he went out and earned his electricians certificate in order to be able to wire their home and give them confidence in the job done.

Henry dedicated his time as a mentor to those around him. He lifted his peers in all facets of his life by advocating the value of educating oneself and striving to reach goals which were otherwise seen to be unobtainable.
Henry loved to spend time in the outdoors, planting trees and cutting them down, as well as designing, building and remodeling wherever he called home over his many years and houses he resided in. He and Louise put their traveling shoes on when they both entered retirement. They traveled around Europe during their careers and extensively throughout the United States.

Henry was preceded in death by his parents Henry Carlson Sr. and Alice Carlson along with his only Son, Ronald Carlson and Stepson, Jeffery Rhemrev.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Louise; granddaughter Jennifer Carlson and 4 great grandsons Aaron, Brendon, Rydon and Sam Carlson; stepdaughter and stepson Elizabeth and Philip Doherty; grandson Ryan Doherty; and grandchildren Victoria and Cole Rhemrev.

Private family services were held at the Iten Funeral Chapel in Delano, Minnesota. A celebration of life service will be held later in June in Boston, Massachusetts.
