Steven “Steve” Verdon Williams, 51, passed away on July 17, 2022, after a courageous battle with cancer. Steve was born on May 25, 1971, in Spring Grove, Minnesota. He was the youngest child of Clarence “Don” and Carol (Wilbright) Williams. Steve grew up in Fairmont, Minnesota before moving to Lester Prairie, Minnesota where he met his partner for life Patricia “Patti” Kuntz. He graduated from Lester Prairie High School in 1989 and went on to attend Minnesota State University – Mankato where he earned his bachelor’s degree.

On June 6, 1992, Steve was united in marriage to his high-school sweetheart Patti at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie. Steve and Patti made their first home in Waconia, Minnesota and moved to Delano, Minnesota in 1998. Their life was blessed and enriched with two sons, Taylor and Alex. Steve and Patti shared a loving marriage of over 30 years.

In addition to being a devoted husband and loving father, Steve had a successful career beginning at Satellite Industries before accepting a role at the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis where he recently celebrated his 25th year of service. Steve’s career path spanned many areas of IT and audit, with his final role being Assistant Vice President and Assistant General Auditor. Steve found deep joy in building up those around him, and his mentorship and leadership over the years has helped many individuals grow professionally.

Steve also served his community by being on the Delano Planning Commission for over 10 years, was a Sunday School Teacher and coached a variety of youth sports teams.

Steve loved being at the lake – boating, fishing, playing yard games and card games with his family. He will be remembered most fondly for his ability to make people laugh, quick wit, DIY expertise, and big heart. His presence will be missed by his family, friends, and all of those who he impacted throughout his life.
Steve is survived by his wife Patti Williams; son Taylor Williams and his wife Hanna, son Alex Williams; mother Carol Williams; father-in-law Rodney Kuntz; sister Kathy Maday and her husband Tim, sister Pam Flitter and her husband John, sister-in-law Deb Michaelis and her husband Rory; aunt, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Steve is preceded in death by his father Don, brother Jeffrey, and mother-in-law Sharon Kuntz.

Gathering of family and friends was on Friday, August 5th, 2022, 1-3pm at Light of Christ Lutheran Church in Delano, Minnesota with a Memorial Service at 3pm.
