Carol Strassburg

Carol June (Alger) Strassburg, “Junie” age 89 of Maple Plain, Minnesota passed away peacefully on Friday, September 16, 2022. She was born June 10, 1933, to Daniel and Grace Alger in Maple Plain, Minnesota.
Carol graduated from Delano High School and kept close contact with her classmates throughout the years. She was united in marriage to the love of her life Earl Strassburg on June 13, 1953, and to this union three children were blessed.

Carol and Earl enjoyed traveling, especially seeing our National Parks and visiting extended family. She was a lover of anything pheasant and collected those special items that showcased her favorite bird. She was gifted with a strong artistic ability that she showed when creating embroidery and cross-stitch pieces that were gifts for family and friends. Carol possessed a strong community view and served as an election judge in Independence and Long Lake for over 40 years. She volunteered for numerous projects at church also. She truly enjoyed meeting new people and learning their stories and hearing about their families. Sugar cookies from Carol’s kitchen were a special treat that is fondly remembered by her friends, neighbors, and family.

Carol was preceded in death by her husband Earl; siblings Madeline Lebovsky, Howard Alger, Loren Alger, and Irvin Alger; and her dearest best friend Sharon Hill who preceded Junie in January of 2022. She is survived by her children Pamela Strassburg; Paula (Mark) Freer; Boyd (Tracy) Strassburg; grandson Jentz (Brandi) Strassburg; great grandchild Novella; as well as her favorite nieces and nephews, many extended family and friends.

A memorial gathering was held on Friday, September 30, 2022, at the Iten Funeral Chapel in Delano, Minnesota from 5 to 8 p.m. with a Celebration of Life service at 7 p.m. Inurnment will be in the Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minnesota at a later date.
