Doris Mae Swenson age 81 of Delano passed away peacefully and suddenly after a battle with cancer on Monday, October 10, 2022, at her home with her family by her side. She was born June 30, 1941, to Joseph and Mabel (Nordberg) Johnson in Litchfield, Minnesota.

Doris was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed baking and creating delicious treats for family and friends. She loved to spend time with her family especially having ice cream and playing games at Eagle Lake and watching her grandchildren in their many activities. She was an avid reader and has a massive list of books read. Doris loved visiting with friends, playing bridge, and was an active member in her church. She will be greatly missed by all.

Doris grew up on the family farm in Dassel, MN. She was confirmed at Stockholm Lutheran Church and graduated from Dassel High School in Dassel, MN. She went on to attend Augsburg College. Doris met and married Duane L. Swenson and to this union three children were blessed.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Mabel Johnson and twin brother, Dennis Johnson. She is survived by her husband Duane of 59 years; children Greg (Laura) Swenson, Jeff (Cheri) Swenson, Pam (Mike) Lewis; grandchildren Kelsey (Adam), Peter, TJ, Nate, Makenna, Kendall, and Beck; great granddaughters Nora and Addie; sister Char; brothers Paul, CW, Ralph, and Galen.

A memorial service was held on Monday, October 17, 2022, at 11 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church in Watertown, Minnesota. Gathering of family and friends was held on Sunday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Iten Funeral Home in Delano, Minnesota and continued on Monday at the church from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the services.
