Ruth E. Dye

Ruth E. Dye, age 88 of Watkins, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2023, surrounded by her family at home in Watkins, Minnesota. She was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and compassion.

Born September 10, 1935, in Valparaiso, Indiana, to Harold and Edna (Rittle) Ruwersma. She married William E. Dye on July 19, 1954. She worked at Toro in Mound, Minnesota until she retired. Ruth lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures, chatting with family and friends, cooking, playing cards and spending time with her family. Known for her delicious recipes, Ruth will be remembered for her famous potato salad and the love she infused into every dish she prepared.

She leaves behind a lifetime of cherished memories to be forever held dear by her devoted children, 17 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and other family and friends. Her legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Though she may no longer be with us, Ruth will live on in our hearts, guiding us with the lessons of love, grace, and resilience she imparted.

She is survived by her children, Deborah (Paul) Hanson, Annette (Brian) Krause, James Dye, Donna Dye, Roger (Rebecca) Dye, siblings Gene Ruwersma, Marg Mace & Stewart Ruwersma, along with many grand and great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband William Dye; siblings Darlene Blair, Katie (John) Easton, John Ruwersma, Ozzie Ruwersma, Ada Ruwersma, Elsie Ruwersma, Doris Romine and John Mace; daughter in law Patricia Dye; and grand daughter Darlene First.

A funeral service was held at 2 PM on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at the Iten Funeral Home in Delano, Minnesota. Visitation was held prior from 11-2 PM, all at the funeral home. Interment in Delano Public cemetery. A luncheon followed at the Delano Senior Center.

She may be gone from our sight, but never from our hearts.
