Roman Albert, age 79 of Independence, passed away on November 7, 2024. He was born on October 29, 1945 to Albert and Antonia Florey (Wilebski) in Lancaster, Minnesota.
Roman was born on October 29, 1945 to Albert and Antonia Florey (Wilebski) in Lancaster, Minnesota. Ross graduated from North High School in Minneapolis, MN.
After graduating, Ross went on to serve in the Army for 3 years with 1 year of service in South Korea. He served for 13 days on a ship and worked in the Post Office in South Korea. On January 28th 1966, he was discharged from the Army, and went on to work at Honeywell factory.
During his time at Honeywell, Ross met Judy through a mutual friend at a party, in January 1968. They were married 10 months later and had their marriage blessed by a Priest in March of 1969. Ross and Judy went on to have 3 children, Tony, Jeff, and Stephanie. Ross spent the rest of his life working construction until he retired at the age of 57. After retirement he continued his life of service to his family and friends as a handy-man and mechanic, as well as melting scrap-metal and being and all-around expert on “junk”.
Preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Antonia Florey (Wilebski); his siblings, Joey Wilhardt, Christine Potrament, Ursula Randolph, Frankie Florey, and Dorothy Newel; as well as other close relatives and friends.
He is survived by his wife Judith Florey (Dalbec); his children Anthony Florey (Kimberly), Jeffrey Florey (Michelle), Stephanie Lutz (Joe; deceased); his grandchildren Lindsay Fischer (Austin), Andrew Florey, Hannah Monk (Jason), Jenna Lutz (Luis), Isabelle Florey, Caleb Lutz, and Gabby Florey (Noah); and his great grandchild Jason Monk Jr; siblings Monica (Gary) Herreld, and Gertie (Frank) Patterson.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Friday, November 15, 2024, at St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Parish, St. Peter campus in Delano, Minnesota. Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM with a 4:45 PM Divine Mercy Chaplet on Thursday, November 14, 2024, in St. Martha’s Hall of St. Peter’s campus, and continue from 10-11 AM with a 9:45 AM rosary service on Friday. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery, Delano, Minnesota.
