David Kahnk

David Roy Kahnk age 64 of Delano passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at the Bethesda Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota. He was born January 19, 1949 to Donald and Meta (Hammer) Kahnk in Tyler, Minnesota.
David served in US army during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged on November 3, 1970 at the rank of SP4. David graduated from Delano High School in 1967. He was employed at Rego Manufacturing and Landscape Structures over the years. David enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, traveling to the cabin and Lake of the Woods. He also loved to bowl, play pool, go four wheeling and snowmobiling, time spent with friends. He was an accomplished cook and always had time for a game of cards.
David was preceded in death by his parents Donald and Meta (Hammer) Kahnk; his sister Donna (Kahnk) Kirchenwitz; and a nephew Robert Kirchenwitz. He is survived by his brother Melvin Kahnk; brother-in-law Ken Kirchenwitz and fiancé Renee Ketcher; nieces and nephew Patricia (Jeffrey) Yantes, Deborah Mannion, Angela (Jeffrey) Templin, Kathy Kirchenwitz and special friend Sean Stafford and her daughter Aurora; Daniel Kirchenwitz; great nieces and nephews Kevin, Billy, Graydon, Gracey, and Breana.
Memorial services were held on Friday, April 26, 2013 at 7 p.m. at the Iten Funeral Chapel in Delano, Minnesota. Inurnment will be in the Delano Public Cemetery. Honorary bearers were Kevin Yantes, Bill Yantes, Graydon Mannion, Breana Templin, Gracey Templin and Aurora Hagemeyer. Rev. Gale Reitan of Lyndale Lutheran Church officiated at the services. Delano American Legion Post #377 supplied an honor gaurd.
