Edward W. Windsperger

Edward W. Windsperger, age 82, of Waconia, formerly of Delano passed away on Monday, June 21, 2021. He was born on January 2nd, 1939 in Robbinsdale, Minnesota to Edward and Agnes (Mortensen) Windsperger.

Ed’s family moved to rural Montrose in 1957. Ed was united in marriage on June 13, 1959 to Susan T. Swartzer and to this union 6 children were blessed. Ed made his career at Toro where he retired after 25 years. Ed was an active member at his church, Immaculate Conception in Watertown, where he served on the parish council and the church choir. He loved to sing, and instilled the passion for music in his family.

Ed was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, mentor, and friend. He was able to spin a yarn and tell a tale, all of which had some seed of truth. He loved to farm, spending time in his garden, tending to his chickens and sheep. One-on-one conversations in the garden were the norm for his parenting style. The highlight to his day was spending time with his family.

Ed currently resided at Good Samaritan of Waconia and looked forward to the weekly rehearsals and seasonal concerts singing with the choir and ringing the hand bells.

Ed was preceded in death by daughter Rebecca “Becky” Nelson; parents Edward and Agnes Windsperger; brothers Don (Mavis) Windsperger and Bob Windsperger; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Walter Swartzer, Jack (Marguerite) Swartzer, Lorraine (Emmett) Lynch, Louie Bury, Joseph Swartzer, Sr., Luverne (Leo) Blackketter, George Swartzer, Tom Kuka, Marvin (Laurie) Swartzer, Sandy Swartzer, Mary Helen Swartzer, Gladys Swartzer, and Donald Swartzer.

Ed is survived by his wife of 62 years, Susan; children Mike (Julie) Windsperger, Barb (Bob) Meissner, Bill (Janet) Windsperger, Steve (Terri) Windsperger, and Melissa (Roger) Olson; son-in-law Jim Nelson; 19 grandchildren Rachel (Danny) Evans, Michael (Rachel) Windsperger, Theresa Windsperger, Bailey Windsperger, Shari (Dan) Freiberg, Robert Nagel, John (Morgan) Meissner, Jason Meissner, Amanda (Sam) Sawtelle, Afton Windsperger, Morgan (Jacob) Kempenich, Austin Windsperger, Kimmy Windsperger, Katie Windsperger, Jenny (Ryan) Amundson, Zack Weiman, Matt Weiman, Ben Weiman, and Bekah Weiman; 7 great grandchildren Grace, Henry, Ruby, Sam, Isaac, Monroe, Eden, and another on the way; sisters Margaret “Toots” (Albert) Loebertmann, Judy (Allie) Lacina, Kathy (Tom) Maas, and Betty (Dale) Glunz; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Elaine Windsperger (Joe Noe), Betty Bury, Marion Kuka, Bob (Mary Lynn) Swartzer, Ervin (Renee) Swartzer, Gene Swartzer, Tony Swartzer, Peter (Alice) Swartzer, Irene Swartzer, Rosemary Swartzer, Dorothy Swartzer, and Cathy Swartzer; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 AM on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Watertown. Visitation was on Friday, from 4-8 PM and continued Saturday, from 10-11 AM all at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. Inurnment in the church cemetery.
