Alfred T. Salonek

Alfred Thomas Salonek, age 92 of Montrose, MN passed away on Tuesday July 2, 2024, with his family by his side. He was born on December 15, 1931, to John and Catherine (Polingo) Salonek on the family farm where he lived his whole life.
Alfred attended and graduated from Delano High School.
Alfred met the love of his life Elizabeth Lachermeier and they were wed on November 24, 1956. To this union, five children were blessed.
Alfred was a loving husband and father. Farming was his passion, and he was blessed to have worked alongside his sons John and Jerry. Alfred and Betty loved to travel. If it wasn’t a road trip, they were with a tour group that took them to many countries, and made many friends along the way. Alfred enjoyed family time, snowmobiling in his younger years, fishing, playing cards but mostly echure.
Preceded in death by his sons Bob and Jerry; his parents John and Catherine Salonek; siblings George (Eleanor) Salonek and Eleanor (Vernon) Johnson; son in law Gene Stensland, brother in law Marvin Gallus.
Survived by wife of 67 years Elizabeth “Betty”; children Diane Stensland, John and his wife Lori Salonek, Dan and his wife Sharon Salonek; daughter in law Bonnie Salonek; grandchildren Brian (Tammy) Stensland, Jason Stensland (friend Meghan), Lisa (Travis) Senear, Travis (Cali) Salonek, Lindsay (Andrew) Hirsch, Brittany (Michael) Rider, Lexi Salonek, Nathan (Connie) Salonek, Nicholas Salonek, Brooke (Casey) Dingels, Christopher (Emily) Salonek, Joshua Salonek (fiancé Gabby); 20 great-grandchildren;. In laws; Delores Gallus, Clarence and Elaine Quast, Tony and Peg Lachermeier.
Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 AM on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Watertown, Minnesota. Visitation was held from 9-11 AM prior, with an 8:40 AM rosary service, all in the church. Interment in the church cemetery.
