Annie Louise Duvall (Scholz), age 78 of Delano, passed away at home on Thursday, October 31, 2024. The daughter of Hugo and Rose (Doering) Scholz; Annie was born July 22, 1946, in Ely, Minnesota. She attended school in Ely and later graduated from Orono High School in 1964.

Annie was a strong, independent woman and devoted mother of four children who are proud to call her mom. She was not afraid to voice her opinions. She loved her entire family despite their quirks. She worried about them, protected them, forgave them, and always kept loving them.

While raising her children, Annie enjoyed taking the family on summer trips to Ely to visit extended family, always stopping on the way at various attractions and touring the mines. Annie enjoyed trips to Arizona and California and going to the casino with her dearest friend Donna. She liked to spend time at home knitting, reading library books, and playing her solitaire game. She liked to go out shopping at thrift stores, garage sales, and eating Mexican food. Most of all, Annie enjoyed family time around the bonfire and birthday parties with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Annie is preceded in death by her parents Hugo and Rose Scholz; brothers Melvin Scholz, Gene (Karin) Scholz; and sister Rosie Schnappauf.

She is survived by her children Annette (Jay) Shierts of Monticello, MN, Dawn (Brian) Zitzloff of Montrose, MN, Sean Yantes of Montrose, MN, and Shelley (Al) Duffy of Howard Lake, MN; grandchildren Alissa (Jory Sundberg) Zitzloff of Buffalo, MN, Kayley Yantes (Will Harris) of Chaska, MN, Kody Yantes of Montrose, MN, and Leo Shierts of Minneapolis, MN; great-grandchildren Willow and Kolten Sundberg; siblings Don (Marie) Scholz of Ely, MN, Gilbert Scholz of Ely, MN, Helen Anderson of Ely, MN, Hugo (Linda) Scholz of Babbitt, MN, John (Susie) Scholz of Ely, MN, Tommy (Betty) Scholz of Winton, MN, and Susie Saclolo of San Jose, CA.

A gathering of family and friends will take place from 2-6 PM on November 22, 2024, at the Iten Funeral Home in Delano, Minnesota.
