Anthony Joseph Merz, age 54 of Independence was born on April 9, 1964 and died unexpectedly on September 28, 2018.

He was preceded in death by an infant brother Emil. He is survived by his parents Paul and Rosa (Teich) Merz; sister Julianne (Frank) Smaron; brother James (Sheila) Merz; nieces and nephews Anna, Matthew, Peter and Natalie Smaron and Andrew Merz.

Mass of Christian Burial was at 11 AM on Friday, October 5, 2018 at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, 155 Co Rd 24, Medina. Visitation was 10-11 AM Friday prior to the Mass at the church. Interment was in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
