Antoinette (Toni) Diem
10/14/2015

Antoinette Elizabeth (Pauldine) Diem, age 42 of Delano, MN, passed away after an 8-year battle with metastatic breast cancer on the evening of October 14, 2015. The daughter of Nicholas and Barbara (Burris) Pauldine, Toni was born on September 19, 1973 in Cortland, NY. She grew up exploring the fields behind her house, playing flute and piano, and singing. She graduated from Homer High School in 1991 and headed to Ithaca College, where she received a degree in Vocal Music Education in 1995. Toni returned to the Homer schools, teaching middle school vocal and general music for two years. After that, Colorado beckoned and she headed west to Greeley, Colorado to attend the University of Northern Colorado. While working on her Master’s degree in Choral Conducting, Toni headed off on a blind date with a pianist and wind conductor from Delano, MN, Timothy Diem. The two were nearly inseparable after that first date. They were married in St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Cortland, NY during a blizzard on January 1, 1999. The two relocated to MN in 2000, eventually landing in Delano in the fall of 2003. Three boys blessed the Diem household William (13), Paul (12), and John (9), and they joined their mother singing, dancing, laughing and loving each day. Toni spent time directing the choirs for the Delano Catholic Community and in 2008 moved to the St. Francis Xavier parish in Buffalo, where she worked until the cancer literally took her breath away early in 2015, having metastasized in her lungs in 2013. Toni loved her work in the glorification of God and brought her infectious love of life and the Lord to all that encountered her. Toni is survived by her husband, Tim; sons William, Paul and John; parents Nicholas and Barbara Pauldine; brothers Nicholas (Kerry) and Joe Pauline, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
