Bruce L. Freeman

Bruce Lee Freeman age 81 of Loretto passed away on Thursday, October 13, 2016 at the Haven Homes in Maple Plain, Minnesota. He was born January 23 1935 in Slayton, Minnesota to George and Fern (Kephart) Freeman.

Bruce was the longtime owner of Loretto Towing and a mechanic of 34 years. He graduated from Walnut Grove High School in 1953. After high school he went on to Dunwoody Technical College. Bruce served in the Army National Guard and was Honorably Discharged.

Bruce was known as “Big Bruce” to many friends in the Loretto area. He liked to fish, watch wrestling, football and baseball, go on trips to the casino, and to listen to Polka music. He worked at Mark’s Choo Choo bar as a bartender as well as doing some sales. Bruce was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, the Loretto Lions Club and served on the Loretto Volunteer Fire Department for 25 years.

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents George and Fern Freeman, his granddaughter Molly Ann Freeman and a brother Myron Freeman. He is survived by his wife of 56 years Vivian (McCoy); children Brenda (John) Dubay, Tim (Sheila) Freeman, Cindy (Rick) Kuka; 13 grandchildren: Richard (Lindsey) Freeman, Stephanie Krueger, Michelle Freeman, Catherine Freeman, Rosemary (Paul) Streveler, Elizabeth Dubay, Amy (Ken) Kiley, Margaret Dubay, David Dubay, Theresa Dubay, Joshua Dubay, Cecelia Kuka, Marcus Kuka; 5 great grandchildren: Theodore Freeman, Astrid Freeman, Lincoln Freeman, Payton Ann Mitchell, Benjamin Kiley; sister Cheryl (Ron) Walter; brothers Dean (Judy) Freeman, Larry (Linda) Freeman; step-mother Norma Freeman.

Memorial Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 AM on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Loretto, Minnesota. Gathering of family and friends took place on Tuesday from 4-8 PM at the Iten Funeral Home in Delano, Minnesota. Gathering continued on Wednesday from 10-11 AM at church prior to Mass.
