Clement L. Matter “Clem”, age 89 of Delano passed away on Thursday, December 12, 2019. He was born on October 31, 1930 in Franklin Township, Minnesota to Joseph A. and Clara (Kelsey) Matter.

Clem graduated from Delano High School in 1949. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in October 1950 and served during the Korean Conflict until being Honorably Discharged in July 1954.

Clem was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was united in marriage to Jean M. Doyle on January 28, 1956 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in North Platte, Nebraska. To this union, they were blessed with 6 children.

Clem was preceded in death by his wife Jean; son Joseph; daughter Theresa Ludwig; parents and siblings. He is survived by his children Matthew (Jean) Matter, Margaret “Peggy” (Curtis) Houghton, Lori Matter and fiancé Mark Ehlers, and Timothy (Amy) Matter; grandchildren Andrea (Sulaiman)Matter-Shaikh, Joshua (Jen) Matter, Amanda Matter, Michael Wanha, Krista (Jaime) Kinney, Cory Ludwig, Jerome (Lori) Ludwig, Lisa Rassat, Barb Horsch, Mary Ludwig, Julie (Shawn) Woods, Joe (Natasha) Ludwig, Gabriel Hance and Elijah Hance; great grandchildren Reilly Matter, Tylor Matter, and Alexander Kinney, Alyssa Kinney, Addison Kinney, and Austin Kinney; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 20, 2019 at St. Peter Catholic Church in Delano. Visitation was Thursday, 4-8 p.m. with a 3:30 p.m. rosary service, at the Iten Funeral Home in Delano. Visitation continued Friday, 10-11 a.m. prior to the Mass, in Martha’s Hall of St. Peter Catholic Church. Interment with Military Honors was in Calvary Cemetery in Delano.
