Cleon "Butch" R. Meyer

Butch passed away after a long and valiant battle with lung cancer.

Butch was born in Carver County on May 21st, 1942, to Herbert and Ruth (Evans) Meyer. His mother passed away in Sept of 1944 so Butch went to live with his older sister Francis and her husband Herb Bock. Herb and Fran raised him with their daughters Beverly and Judith.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years Dianna (Loeffler) Meyer, son; Daniel (Donelle), daughter; Susan (Darrell) DeMaris, sister; Beverly (Ray) Speckel, sisters in law; Lorraine Meyer and Gail Loeffler, Grandsons; Joshua (Bethany), Ryan (Ann), Derek (Joanna), and Bryce, Five Great-Grandchildren; Alexa, Chloe, Leo, Thea and Ruthi.

He was preceded in death by his son; Doug, his parents, sister and brother-in-law who raised him; Fran and Herb, sisters and brothers-in-law; Judy (Joe) Kruzel, Lucille (Ray) Hunz, Donna (Don) Olson, Joyce (Logan) Orcutt, Brother; Leon (Carol), Brothers-in-law; Wayne, Jim and Mike Loeffler and sister-in-law Joann (Jack) Hoppe.

Butch worked for the Granite Works in Delano for a few years, then 34 years at Wayzata School District where he was the Grounds Foreman for many years. He was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ. Serving as a Greeter and Usher for several years.
Some of his favorite things were spending time with family and friends. He loved caring for his yard. He enjoyed traveling on his motorcycle then later with the truck and travel trailer. He enjoyed wood working and crafting many gifts for others.

A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at the St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Delano, Minnesota (201 Buffalo St.). A gathering of family and friends will be held from 10-11 AM prior to the service, all at the church. A luncheon will immediately follow the service.
