Clyde L. Wachman
April 10, 2025

Clyde LeRoy Wachman, age 65, a lifelong resident of Delano, passed away on Thursday, April 10th, 2025, after a tragic yet valiant battle with depression.

Clyde was born August 1st, 1959, to Ervin and Darlene (Minge) Wachman.  He was the 2nd of 5 children.  From a young age, Clyde was a risk-taker!  Whether on the football field, on the wrestling mat, or out hitting homers, he loved adventure and mischief.

In high school, Clyde met the love of his life, Beth Olsen.  They married on July 18th, 1981.  Clyde was an avid outdoorsman and had tall tales to go with each fishing and hunting trip.  Clyde was thrilled at the arrival of Ashley and Abby.  Time was always well spent when he ignited the love of hunting and snowmobiling with Ashley and Abby proudly went fishing and scrapping with him.

The addition of Andy and Coty provided him lots of laughs, bullshit, and beers.  Clyde was an amazing mentor to his boys.  They valued his insight and learned more than they could ever imagine.

Clyde’s greatest joy was found in the arrival of K.T., Kenna, and Kyree; they were his entire world!  Grampie cherished every moment spent with them.  Grampie will live on in the girls as evidenced by their love of time on the lake, spunky can do attitudes, and their ability to tell the tall tales.

Clyde was a proud 40 year member of the Local 563 Laborers’ Union.  His incredible work ethic was second to none.  In all his years, he never missed a day and made it his priority to always be the first to work.  He self-proclaimed it was to start the coffee, but we never really knew.  Scrappin’ with his dad, Erv, was not just a second job, but a passion.  Everyone knew to call Scrappy & LeRoy when junk needed to be hauled.

What started as small family camping trips blossomed into our love to travel.  From Alaska to Panama and California to Maine, miles of memories were made to never be forgotten.  The trips will continue with the guidance of our new guardian angel.  So many weekends were spent on the southern shores of Rush Lake (AKA Lake Wackadoo).  In 2017, Clyde and Beth built the cabin of their dreams.  With Clyde as the general contractor and Beth as the interior designer, no detail was spared.  Clyde’s legacy will forever live on at this special place.

When Clyde went to be with his Lord, the world got a bit quieter.  Left to mourn his loss are: Beth his wife of 44 years.  Ashley Colberg and her family, Andy, Katelyn (K.T.), Kenna, and Kyree.  Abby Cummings and her husband Coty.  He is also survived by his mother Darlene Wachman.  Siblings Erv (Shelly) Wachman, Juanita (Pete) Hayes, Mary (Pat) Yantes, and Jodi Solberg.  Beth’s Family include, Bev (Tom) Scheirer, Doug Olsen, and Dan (Jane) Olsen.  He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.  Clyde also leaves behind countless friends that have come to be “family.”

Clyde was met in heaven by his dad, Erv Sr., Mother and Father-in-law, Ivan and Alice Olsen, Brother in laws, Jim & Jeff Olsen.  Along with many great friends waiting on a hand of euchre.  We are sure Jade came running with a wagging tail.

Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Friday, April 25, 2025, at St. Mary of Czestochowa Catholic Church in rural Delano, Minnesota. A gathering will be held from 4-8 PM, with an 8 PM prayer service on Thursday, April 24, 2025, and continue from 10-11 AM on Friday, prior to Mass, all at the church. A luncheon will be held immediately following the Mass in the church basement.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.

Clyde was many things to many people.  Just to name a few, he was the glue, the laughter, the Mr. Fix-it and the hardest working man we will ever know.

Tell them you LOVE them, HUG them tight, and ALWAYS TAKE THE TRIP!

The Mass will be live-streamed on the Iten Funeral Home Youtube page. A link is provided below:
