Dale A. Tschudi

Dale Allen Tschudi, age 77, of Delano, passed away on October 31, 2024. Born on September 3, 1947, to John and Louise (Hayenga) Tschudi in Willmar, Minnesota. Dale was raised in the small farming community of Kimball, Minnesota, where he attended school with his siblings.

After graduating from Kimball High School in 1965, Dale worked various jobs before enlisting in the United States Army in July 1966. He served as an ordinance wheel and track mechanic with the 2/68 Armor Division of the 8th Infantry, stationed in Baumholder, Germany, until his honorable discharge in July 1969. Later that year, Dale met Barbara Grossinger at the Playland Ballroom in Kimball, and it was love at first sight. They married in 1971 and moved to Delano in 1976, where they raised their three sons: Michael, Daniel, and Eric.

Dale worked in machine maintenance for 37 years at McCourtney Plastics in Saint Louis Park, Minnesota. He was known for his honesty, reliability, and dedication to hard work. Dale took immense pride in his work, but his greatest pride was his family. He was a devoted husband, father, and “papa,” who cherished attending his sons’ football games, soccer matches, and wrestling meets. His eight grandchildren were the light of his life, and he loved family gatherings, weekend sleepover popcorn parties, and attending their concerts, recitals and sporting events.

Dale is preceded in death by his parents, John and Louise (Hayenga) Tschudi; and in-laws, Lawrence and Genevieve (Faber) Grossinger. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Barbara; their children, Michael (Jessi), Daniel (Tania), and Eric (Lynn); grandchildren, Camden (Emma), Carson, Kennedy, Genevieve, Ellyse, Brittany, Evelynn, and Bryce; siblings, Linda (Keith) Elmquist, Luther (Sharon) Tschudi, and Kathy (Peter) Mugg; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A celebration of Dale’s life will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at the Delano Senior Center in Delano, Minnesota. A gathering of family and friends will be held prior from 10-11 AM. Private family inurnment will take place at a later date in Delano Public Cemetery.

Dale will be remembered as an honest, hardworking man who loved his family deeply and lived a life full of love and dedication.
