Dennis J. Bartos
April 24th, 2022

Dennis J. Bartos of Delano passed away on Divine Mercy Sunday, April 24, 2022. He was born December 19, 1944, to Robert and Irene (Hiebel) Bartos in Glenwood, Minnesota.

Dennis grew up in Delano and graduated from Delano High School in 1962. It was there that Dennis found his soul mate and partner in life, Shirley A. Gabrelcik, and they were married on February 22, 1966 at St. Peter Catholic Church in Delano. Their union was blessed with two sons; Scott and Keith, whom they raised upon a solid foundation of love, faith, and hard work.

Dennis made his career working for the City of Golden Valley for 35 years, ending his service as the Vehicle Maintenance Superintendent at the time of his retirement. Dennis was a man of many skills, and he was not one to have idle time. His passion and wonder for the outdoors were things he instilled in his children and grandchildren. To say that he possessed a green thumb would be an understatement. Dennis tended acres of rich land for decades, growing produce, tapping maple trees for syrup, tending bees for honey and pollination, pursuing game, and building bird houses. These were all the fruits of labor he enjoyed sharing with family, neighbors, the larger community, and local food shelves.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Irene Bartos; parents-in-law, Richard and Elizabeth Gabrelcik; brother, Mark Bartos; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, James and Bunnie Gabrelcik; sister-in-law, Elizabeth (Bette) Bartos; and brother-in-law, Floyd Sibell. He is survived by Shirley, his devoted wife of 56 years; sons, Scott (Michelle) and Keith (Linda) Bartos; grandchildren, Matthew, Michael (Tori) and Rachel Bartos; great grandson, Charlie Bartos; siblings, Vern Bartos, Les (Sharon) Bartos, Carole (Jim) Dongoski, David (Carol) Bartos, Linda Sibell, Dean (Cindy) Bartos, Janet (Brian) Lyle and sister-in-law, Marjorie Bartos; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Richard “Dick” (Ginger) Gabrelcik, Jack (Karlene) Gabrelcik, Paul Gabrelcik, William “Bill” Gabrelcik; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
