Donald L. Klingelhoets

Donald Leonard Klingelhoets, age 87 of Waverly, passed away on September 19, 2024. He was born on March 15,1937 to Louis and Louise (Remer) Klingelhoets. He was the oldest of seven children. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Waverly. He went on to spend 12 years at St. Mary’s School. When he graduated from school he went right into the army. He served is country from 1957 – 1959. Most of this time was spent in Germany at a Nike missile base.
His first job when he got home was with Robinson Rubber, from there he spent several years working for Pako. He finally found his favorite job at Braemar Golf Course in Edina. He stayed there for 32 years until he retired. He made many life-long friends there. As a part time job, he started Waverly Sport Sales around 1970. He sold snowmobiles and golf carts. He loved to repair engines and serviced many lawn mowers etc. He liked to stay busy. Don was a member of the Waverly City council for many years and was an active fireman for many years as well. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and took great pride in working the many pancake breakfasts. “He loved to do the dishes.” Don also loved to fish whenever he could and go deer hunting in the fall. He was a member of a card club since the early 60’s with old school friends.
He and classmate Mary Reardon were married in January 1958 and had five children. Chris (Mike) Drusch, Keith Klingelhoets, Ann (George) Karels, Joan (Bob) Lanoux, and Stephen (Melissa) Klingelhoets. He has 11 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
His fun-loving nature and his love of old cars, trucks and cycles will be greatly missed. He really loved his ‘52 Chevy pick-up.
He is survived by his wife Mary, children Chris (Mike) Drusch, Keith Klingelhoets, Ann (George) Karels, Joan (Bob) Lanoux, and Stephen (Melissa) Klingelhoets; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; brother Tony (Gerlene), sisters Alice (Ken) Larson and Elaine (Tom) Robb, brothers Louis Jr. (Teresa), Mark (Gwen), and Al Klingelhoets; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He is preceded in death by Parents Louis & Louise and infant brother John.
Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Church of St. Mary, Waverly, MN. Visitation 4-8 PM Friday, September 27th at the church, and continues 9-10:30 AM prior to Mass, all at the church. Interment in the church cemetery.
