Donald Maurice Mendelson, age 91 of Delano passed away on Sunday, November 10, 2019 with his family by his side. He was born on February 20, 1928 in St. Paul, MN to Maurice and Lillian (Lind) Mendelson.

Donald served in the U.S. Air Force during WWII and was honorably discharged in 1952. He was united in marriage to Caroline May Heidelberg on July 17, 1950 in Wyoming, MN.

Donald worked as a heavy equipment operator throughout his career. He loved to fish and eat fish, but most of all, he loved to spend time with his family.

Donald was preceded in death by his wife Caroline. He is survived by his children Donald Mendelson Jr. and Cynthia Mendelson; grandchildren Travis Mendelson, Carrie Stoppelman, Blake (Jourdan) Mendelson, Denise (Mitch) Holland and Kristin Sawatzke; great grandchildren Staci Holland, Lynkon Holland, Odin Holland, Jasmine Coolen, Adrian Coolen, Kobe Mendelson, Alexis Olson and Abbi Olson.

A Celebration of Life Gathering was held from 4-6 PM on Monday, November 18, 2019 at the Iten Funeral Chapel in Delano. Private family inurnment was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
