Doris Bernadine Johnson age 91 of Delano passed away on Saturday, March 25, 2023, with her family by her side. She was born May 20, 1931, to Sylvester “Sart” and Julia (Mross) Salonek in Montrose, Minnesota.

Doris was a loving wife, aunt, and friend to many. She grew up in Montrose, where she attended Montrose Elementary School and went on to graduate from Buffalo High School. Doris met Bob Johnson at her cousins home in 1948 and they were united in marriage in 1950 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Waverly, Minnesota.

Doris loved to fish, like most Salonek’s, she also enjoyed tending to her garden, growing flowers and vegetables, canning the produce and sharing with family and friends. She and Bob enjoyed snowmobiling and four wheeling. She and Bob spent five winters in Texas trying their hand at being snowbirds. Doris’s true love in life was her Bobby. She was kind to everyone and; She and Bob enjoyed being second parents to all of the nieces and nephews. Snowmobile picnics with a big bonfire were family get togethers to look forward to.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents Sylvester and Julia Salonek; brother and sister-in-law Harold and Caroline Salonek, sister and brothers-in-law Maryann and Tony Poirier, Vernon and Eleanor Johnson; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Donna and Henry Ewers. She is survived by her husband Bob; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Mass of Christian Burial was held on Friday, March 31, 2023 at 11 a.m. at St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church, St. Peter’s campus in Delano, Minnesota. Visitation took place on Thursday, March 30th from 5 to 8 p.m. and will continued Friday from 10 to 11 a.m., all in St. Martha’s Hall of the St. Peter campus. There was a prayer service held at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday to close the visitation. Interment was in the Calvary Cemetery in Delano, Minnesota.
