Doris Burns, age 85 of Watertown passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Tuesday, November 5, 2024 at her home in Watertown, surrounded by her loving family. She was born September 15, 1939 to Lawrence and Helen (Eiden) Leuthner in Hollywood Township, Minnesota.
Doris was a devoted wife and cherished mother of seven sons, each of whom she loved dearly and to whom she dedicated her life. Her nurturing spirit and steadfast support were the cornerstones of her family’s strength and unity.
Her strong Catholic faith was a guiding light throughout her life. Doris was deeply committed to the Virgin Mary and her faith provided her with strength and comfort. She was particularly devoted to the Rosary, and she prayed it daily. Over the years, she lovingly crafted hundreds of rosaries as a founding member of the Rosary Makers club at church. Her dedication to her faith was evident in every aspect of her life, and she inspired those around her to cherish and uphold their spiritual values.
Doris was an avid sports fan, she loved the Twins, Gophers, Vikings, Lynx and watching her grandkids or great grandkids play sports. She loved to read, knit, and solve jigsaw puzzles. Doris and Charlie also spent a lot of time travelling, they took many long driving trips and loved National Parks.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents Lawrence and Helen Leuthner and brothers Kenneth and Ronald. She is survived by her loving husband of over 65 years, Charles; sons Tom and Linda, Larry and Lori, Jeff and Jean, Steve and Kim, Dan and Carri, Keith and Marcine, and Jim and Becky; 18 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren; siblings and spouses Diane and Cal Rolfzen, Stan and Margie Leuthner, Al and Karen Leuthner; sisters-in-law Sherie Leuthner and Bev Leuthner; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, November 15, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Watertown, Minnesota. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. and continues 9:30 to 11 a.m. Friday, with a 9 a.m. rosary service, all at the church. Rev. Peter Hughes will officiate at the Mass with interment in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that remembrances be made in the form of contributions to the Rosary Makers Club at Immaculate Conception Church in Watertown.
