Douglas Irving Shoutz May 17th, 1939 – February 21st, 2025
Douglas Irving Shoutz, 85 years old, passed away at the Methodist Hospital in hospice. Doug was born in Litchfield, Minnesota, to Ora and Francis Shoutz on May 17th, 1939. He was raised on a farm in Kimball, Minnesota and later the family moved to Litchfield.
Doug graduated from Litchfield High School in 1957, enjoying wood working in shop class and medaling in wrestling at the state level. Shortly after high school Doug married Marie Schiebel and they moved to Delano. They had two children, Scott and Cindy (Shoutz) Rammage.
Doug drove truck for Murphy Motor Freight before he started his own company of Shoutz Transfer. He later had a bar in Delano called the Nite Place. He owned, operated, and/or managed different businesses along the way with a short stint of remodeling and flipping houses. His most favorite job though was working at Loopy’s which his son Scott owned and operated in Delano. Besides being a businessman, Doug also served a term on the Delano City Council. He was a past member and president of the Delano Lions Club.
Doug was a member of the Minnewashta Church in Excelsior. Doug also enjoyed years of playing golf and watching football with family and friends.
Doug is survived by his two children, Scott and Cindy (Shoutz) Rammage, son-in-law Clay Rammage, four siblings Donald, Lowell (Sandy), Kenneth (Carol) and Linda Lou (Jim) Schmitt, three grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Bonnie, brother Clayton and Vernon, sister-in-laws Joy, Lois and Karen.
Celebration of Life will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, March 1st, 2025, at the Iten Funeral Home in Delano, Minnesota. A gathering of family and friends will be held prior from 9-11 AM.
