Gary L. Probst, age 72 of Waverly, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, August 1, 2019. He was born on November 13, 1946 in Watertown, Minnesota to George and Elaine (Matter) Probst.

Gary was united in marriage to Mary Plamann on January 2, 1965. He enjoyed being outdoors hunting, fishing and camping and spending time with his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandpa, brother, uncle and friend to many.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents; brother Kenneth Probst; father-in-law Raymond Plamann. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary; children Barb (Kevin) Zupan, Richard (fiancé Michelle) Probst and Robert (Jamie) Probst; grandchildren Richard, Kayla, Alexis, Sophia, Braden, Zach and Sarah; great granddaughter Willow; siblings Judi Salonek, Craig (Mary) Probst and Tom (Vicki) Probst; mother-in-law Lee Plamann; sister-in-law Tina (Harold) Osterbauer; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A Memorial Service was held at 11 AM on Friday, August 09, 2019 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Montrose. A gathering of family and friends was on Thursday from 4-8 PM and continued Friday, from 10-11 AM prior to the service, all at the church. A reception followed the service at the Montrose Community Center.
