Georgia Berchtold (Bauman)

Georgia ”Dot” Carolla (Bauman) Berchtold, age 89, formerly of Delano, MN passed away at the Sandstone Health Care Center on April 19, 2019.
Georgia was born on December 9, 1929 to George and Theresa (Muckenhirn) Bauman in Delano, MN. She graduated from Delano High School and continued her education at the Minneapolis Business College. Georgia went on to work at JCPenny in Minneapolis and along the way met her husband Lowell Berchtold. In 1951 Georgia and Lowell united in marriage and started their life together in Minneapolis. Georgia worked as a florist, owned her own business, and was a homemaker while she raised her family though the years. Throughout the years Georgia lived in Minnetonka, Plymouth, and Sandstone. While she lived in the cities, Georgia was very active at St Mary’s of the Lake, and St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, serving on many parish committees. Georgia loved baking, playing and hosting bridge parties, teaching her children to swim on Lake Minnetonka, organizing family tennis tournaments, and traveling during retirement.
Georgia is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 60 years, Lowell; her brothers, Ralph, Frances, Bill; her sister, Mary Boisvert; brother in laws, Jim Lundsten, Art Boisvert, Dick Merriman, Danny Armendariz; sister in laws, Frances Berchtold, Ruth Bauman, and Dorothy Bauman.
Georgia is survived by her son, Mark (Susan) Berchtold, her daughters, Jeanne Asleson, Jennie (Shane) Seibert, sisters, Ann Lundsten, Barbara Merriman, Edith Moran, Lucy Ronan, grandchildren, Shane Asleson, Scott (Andrea) Asleson, Jeremy (Lindsey) Asleson, Mary Berchtold, Claire Berchtold, Jacob Seibert, Jamison Seibert, Sofia Seibert, and 8 great grandchildren; sister in law, Toots Armendariz; and brother in law, James Ronan.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, May 18, 2019, at 11 am at St. Peter Catholic Church in Delano, MN. Visitation took place one hour prior to the service in Martha’s Hall of the church. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery in Delano, MN.
