James Biggar, 87 of Delano, MN. died on Sunday, June 12th, 2011 at Haven Homes of Maple Plain due to congestive heart failure. Funeral services were held on Thursday, June 16th at 11 a.m. at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Delano, MN. with Pastor Paul Marggraf officiating. Burial with Military Honors took place at 3 p.m. on Thursday at Mt. Hope Cemetery in St. James, MN.

James Biggar son of Thomas Biggar & Janet (Sharp) Biggar was born August 18, 1923 in the town of Kilwinning, Scotland. James and his parents immigrated to the United States when he was four years old. He was raised and attended school in the Darfur and Butterfield area, graduating from Butterfield High School in 1943. James joined the United States Navy, serving in the Pacific from 1943-1946. James worked for a short while in California before returning to Minnesota. He enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving from 1951-1955. James married Lorraine Behlmer on September 6th, 1953 at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in St. James, MN. Following his discharge from the Air Force, James and Lorraine moved to St. James, MN. where he worked for the City of St. James Electrical Department and was a member of the VFW. In 1974, James accepted the job of Utilities Superintendent for the City of Lake City, MN. where he was employed until his retirement in 1985. James enjoyed camping, traveling, watching sports and spending time with family and friends. His wife Lorraine, brother Thomas, sister Mary and parents proceeded him in death.

James is survived by his sons Mark (Renelle) Biggar and Scott Biggar of Delano, MN. grandsons Nathan (Jessica) Biggar of Phoenix, AZ. Travis (Mandy) Biggar of Minneapolis, MN. granddaughter Stacy (Nate) Doering of Mankato, MN. and sister-in-laws Lorraine Behlmer and Donna Behlmer, both of St. James, MN. James is also survived by five great grand-children (Cami, Max, Talan, Ethan and Colby).
