James E. McGrath, age 81 of Montrose, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at the Garden Assisted Living in Winsted. He was born on October 23, 1936 on the family farm in Woodland Township, Minnesota to Walter and Margaret (Murphy) McGrath.

Jim farmed, first in the dairy industry and then as an organic grower, the McGrath farmstead in Woodland Township, which has been in existence since 1869. He served in the U.S. National Guard Reserves and was a member of the Watertown American Legion Eugene Earley Post #121. He enjoyed going to tractor pulls and socializing at Hollywood Sports Complex.

Jim was preceded in death by his wife Teresa; parents Walter and Margaret; sister Marylou Nevels. He is survived by his sister Kathleen (Glenn) Johnson; many nieces and nephews; and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Watertown. Visitation was Tuesday, from 9 to 11 a.m. prior to Mass ALL at the church. Interment was in the church cemetery.
