Karl Iten

Karl Joseph Iten, age 83 of Hackensack, Minnesota and formerly of Farmington passed away unexpectedly on Monday, February 20, 2023. Karl was born on February 19, 1940 in Browerville, Minnesota to Edmund and Fay Iten. He graduated from Browerville High School in 1958. He continued his education at St. John’s University and St. Cloud State, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in English and History.
On August 10, 1963, he was united in marriage to Adelle (Olson) Iten
He began his teaching career in New Ulm, Minnesota and also worked on his master’s degree during this time. In 1966 Karl accepted a position teaching English at Simley High School and they moved to Farmington, Minnesota. There they raised their daughters Kristin, Julie, and Jennie. Karl enjoyed going to all their games and activities, helping coach and spending time together as a family.
When he retired in 1997, his dream was to build a house on the lake in Hackensack. With the help of his friends, he accomplished this task and moved to Hackensack in 2000. Here he enjoyed many hours fishing with his friend Bill, hunting, and having time to spend with family and friends. He was an active member of Sacred Heart Church.
Karl was preceded in death by his parents Ed and Fay Iten, daughter Kristin Walm, brother Harold Iten, brother-in-law Ron Skinner, and sister-in-law Char (Remer) Iten. He is survived by his wife Adelle, daughter Julie Boyden, daughter Jennifer (Terry) Delp, granddaughter Lilly Delp, grandson Carson Delp, son-in-law Brad Walm, grandson Justin Walm, grandson Marcus Walm, sisters Arlie (Ray) Gonsior, Rita Skinner, Kathleen (Ron) Wavra, brother Jim Iten, numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial was held on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hackensack, Minnesota. Gathering of family and friends was held in the church one hour prior to the Mass from 10 to 11 a.m. Inurnment was in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Hackensack.
