Laura A. Karels age 69 of Waverly died unexpectedly on Monday, July 26, 2010. She was born August 21, 1940 to Jacob and Margaret (Pillatzke) Bokusky in Franklin Township, Minnesota.

Laura was preceded in death by her husband George “Shorty” Karels Sr., grandchildren Dale Karels Jr., Melissa Ann Karels; parents Jacob and Margaret Bokusky; sibling Leo Bokusky, brothers-in-law Donald Kowalke, John Jansen, Leon Zachman, Joe Glunz, Dwayne Pylka; and a sister-in-law Florence Marketon.

She is survived by her sons and spouses Roger and Karen Karels, George and Ann Karels, Tom and Tonya Karels, John and Kim Karels, Bruce and Holly Karels, Daryl and Shannon Karels, Marvin and Gayle Karels, Dale and Laura Karels, Jacob and Angie Karels; daughters Brenda Amundson and special friends Larry, Diane and Steve Hoiland, Susie and David Brown, Roseann and Dave Lent; 52 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; siblings and spouses Mary Kowalke, Helen and Leo Neaton, Louie Bokusky, Joseph and Diane Bokusky, Edward and Gerri Bokusky; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Geraldine Jansen, Lorayn Zachman, Ed Marketon, Mary Ann and George Uecker, Mark and Giny Karels.

Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, July 31, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the Church of St. Mary in Waverly, Minnesota. Rev. Timothy Cloutier officiated at the Mass with interment in the church cemetery.

Laura was a woman who put others before herself.
