Lorraine Statema passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on December 6, 2024, at the age of 87. Born on April 15, 1937, to Herbert and Elizabeth Gaspar. Lorraine’s legacy is one of kindness, perseverance, faithfulness, and love—a life lived fully through service to others and deep connections with those around her. Her extraordinary spirit touched countless lives through acts both grand and humble. May Lorraine’s memory bring comfort to those who loved her most as they honor the remarkable impact she made during her extraordinary 87 years on this earth.
She is survived by her brother, Don (Rita) Gaspar; children, Donny (Cindy) Gaspar, Mary Ellen Tweedy, and daughter-in-law, Kathy Statema; grandchildren, Kallie and Alec Statema, Jessica (dec.Tim) Aronson, Robert, and Jimmy (Jeni) Tweedy; great-grandchildren, Aden, Addie, Ava, and Sofia.
Lorraine is preceded in death by her husband Barney Statema, son Dale Statema, brother Jack Gaspar, son-in-law Chuck Tweedy, and great-grandson Wyatt Tweedy.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on January 11th at Iten Funeral Home in Delano, Minnesota (300 3rd St N). Visitation will take place prior to the service from 9:00–11:00 AM at Iten Funeral Home. A luncheon will follow immediately after the service at the Delano Legion (200 Babcock Blvd W).
