Lucille Dekarski

Lucille Marie Dekarski age 93 of Maple Plain passed away on November 16, 2015. She was born February 27, 1922 in Delano, Minnesota to Philip and Mary (Drymalla) Pogreba. Lucille attended St. Peter’s School and Delano High School graduating in 1940. She was united in marriage to August Dekarski in Rapid City, South Dakota in 1948. August and Lucille settled in St. Louis Park, Minnesota in 1950. She enjoyed her employment working as a waitress at Harry’s Café and Charlie’s Café Exceptionale. In 1981, Lucille and August retired and moved to Florida. August passed away in 1984. Lucille continued to reside in New Port Richey, Florida until 2014 when she moved back to Maple Plain. Lucille was active in the Minnesota Club, the German American Club, the Pasco County Homemakers and St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in New Port Richey, Florida. She enjoyed crafts and candle-making and volunteering. She was known as the “caramel apple lady” at Apple Jack Orchards for many years until her sight failed. Lucille was preceded in death by her husband August; her 5 brothers: Charles, Van, Ray, Judd, and Edward. She is survived by her sons Mike (Kit) Dekarski, Donnie (Terry) Dekarski; 3 grandchildren: Andrew Dekarski, Katherine Lamecker and John Dekarski, 3 great grandchildren: Blake Dekarski, Joseph Lamecker, and Anna Lamecker. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, November 20, 2015 at St. Peter Catholic Church in Delano, Minnesota. Visitation took place from 10 to 11:30 a.m. in Martha’s Hall of St. Peter Catholic Church on Friday. Private family interment is in Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
