Lula Faye Cromer Jenkins passed away on Friday, August 29, 2014 at her home in Montrose, Minnesota with her son and daughter by her side. Diagnosed with lung cancer on November 18, 2013 she fought a short, but courageous battle.
Faye was born on November 23, 1944 in the city of Royston in Franklin County Georgia. She was the daughter of the late Thomas Seaborn Cromer and the late Sarah Ammie Bonds. She graduated from Madison County High School in 1962. On October 8, 1966, she was united in marriage to the late Harry Thomas Jenkins Jr. of Sardis, Georgia.
She retired from Baker and Taylor in 2010. Some of her fondest memories were of her coworkers from Baker and Taylor as well as Arcade Apparel. Music was her life and she often performed at benefit singings and with local groups. She loved singing with Charles and Enise Reese, her brother Doyle Cromer, nephew Jimmy Cromer, Freddie Smith and Clarke Kesler.
Faye was also preceded in death by her sister Mary Francis Cromer Carter. She is survived by her two children, Tammy Denise Jenkins Emon (spouse Timothy Emon) and Timothy Brian Jenkins (significant other Alisa Nelson); five brothers James William Cromer, Doyle Lee Cromer, Philip Carson Cromer, Seaborn Mitchell Cromer and JC Cromer; a special niece that she held dear to her heart, Debra Kaye Carter Brock; one grandchild and one great grandson.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2014 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 1459 Jotemdown Road, Danielsville, Georgia at 1:00pm with Douglas Duncan officiating. Graveside service will follow at the Jackson Memorial Cemetery with Charles Reese officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred.
