Marcia M. Kulzer
May 29, 2024

Marcia (Marcy) Margaret Kulzer, age 72, of Monticello, Minnesota, and formerly of Loretto, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, May 29, 2024. She was born on March 16, 1952, in St. Cloud. She was the youngest girl in a family of nine who grew up living on a farm in St. Martin, Minnesota. A big fan of dancing and playing games, she was always surrounded by her many friends and large family.

Marcy was the hardest of workers, a devoted wife, and the most generous mom and G-Ma. She worked as an Executive Secretary for IBM and the IRS for many years and took her well-deserved retirement in 2018. She loved being outdoors, and her favorite pastimes were golfing, fishing with her husband, planting in her garden, and camping with her sisters and family—she loved visiting state and national parks. A very witty wordsmith, she was hard to beat at Scrabble and a fierce Wordle competitor. Passionate about giving back, she volunteered many hours to her community and church throughout her time living in Loretto.

A loving mother and grandma, she enjoyed watching her son and grandkids play sports and often cheered loudly to give them much energy. She loved spending time with her sisters; every chance they had, they would pull out a deck of cards, play solo, and laugh so loudly that they made the rest of us giggle as well. The hostess with the mostess, she and Dad would host many gatherings at the cabin and their house, ensuring the most festive holidays were had and that everyone was well-fed and had the best time. She will be known for being kind, thoughtful, hardworking, and having the most generous spirit. We will love and miss her so much.

She is survived by her loving children Tanya (Bill Maurice), Amy (Daniel Banks), and Jonathan (Jess Peer); grandchildren Mia Banks, Julia Maurice, and Dakota (and soon-to-come baby) Kulzer; siblings Cyrilla Nohner, Lucy (Allen) Hess, Gloria (Arnie) Boie-Wolf, Jeanette (Ken) Lahr, Julie (Norbert) Waldorf, and Leroy (Alice) Schaefer. She was preceded in death by her adoring husband of 51 years, Darwin Kulzer; her father and mother; sister Ivy Schwieters; and brother Mark Schaefer; and many other relatives and friends.

Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 AM on Friday, June 14, 2024, at Ss Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Loretto, Minnesota. A gathering of family and friends will be held prior from 10-11 AM, all at the church. Inurnment in the church cemetery.
