Marie K. Russek age 92 of Delano passed away peacefully on Friday, February 26, 2010 at the Legacy Memory Loss Unit in Delano. She was born on August 25, 1917 in Franklin Township to John J. and Kathryn (Motzko) Russek.

Marie lived at home with her parents until 1961 when they moved to a home near Delano. After the deaths of her parents, she continued to live in Delano until 2007 when she moved to the Westwood Place, an assisted living facility in Watertown. On August 9, 2009 Marie moved to the Legacy in Delano, where she resided until her death.

Marie worked on the farm, she loved to dance, and do picture puzzles and word find books. Marie loved to talk about how she could drive four and five horse hitchs on the gang plow as a young girl and also milking the cows. She loved to work and mowed her own lawn at age 88.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents John and Kathryn (Motzko) Russek; sister Irene Dederich; brothers-in-law Lloyd Yantes and Paul Dederich. She is survived by her sister Bernadette Yantes; brothers and sister-in-law Clarence and Jack (Renata) Russek all of Delano; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, March 2, 2010 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Delano, Minnesota. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, March 2 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Iten Funeral Home in Delano, Minnesota. Visitation will continue on Wednesday at the church for 1 hour prior to Mass. In lieu of flowers memorials preferred to the Legacy of Delano.
