Marvin (Marv) Hoshaw, 88, of Medina, MN, formerly of Bloomington, MN, passed away on Thursday, June 13, 2024.

Marv, the son of Allen and Eva Hoshaw, was born on July 23, 1935, in the Pedro Mountains outside Casper, Wyoming.

Marv grew up in Upton, Wyoming, and graduated from Upton High School. Following high school, Marv met the love of his life, Ruth Burg. On March 5, 1957, they were united in marriage.

Marv was dedicated to his work as a civil engineer. After attending the South Dakota School of Mines in Rapid City, South Dakota, he worked for the city for a few years. Then, in June 1966, he moved his family to Bloomington, Minnesota, and continued his career with the city of Minneapolis until his retirement in 1992.

Marv’s retirement was a time of joy and fulfillment. He enjoyed golfing, playing cards with his grandchildren, and traveling. His time was enriched by the company of his family and friends.

Marv is survived by his wife, Ruth, to whom he was married for 67 years; children: Deb (Jim) Schmidt, Gary (Carrie) Hoshaw, and David (Cindy) Hoshaw, along with seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; a sister, Margaret (Babe) Lynch; and his nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Eva; brother, Walter; sister, Barbara; and a grandchild, Catherine.

The family will hold a Celebration of Life in July, an intimate gathering exclusively for family members, to honor and remember Marv’s life.
