Mary A. Probst

Mary Arnella Probst, age 77 of Waverly, passed away on April 30, 2025. She was born on August 4, 1947, in Hutchinson, Minnesota to Raymond and Leola (Rusch) Plamann.

Mary spent her early years living on the family farm northwest of Hutchinson. Together with her parents and sister Tina, they moved to the town of Waverly when Mary was a teenager.

Mary was baptized on August 31, 1947, and confirmed on May 21, 1961. She attended and graduated from Howard Lake High School.

She married Gary Probst on January 2, 1965, and together they welcomed 3 children: Barbara, Richard, and Robert. They were lifelong residents of Waverly. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Montrose, Minnesota.

Mary had a passion for the outdoors. She looked forward to summer so they could spend time at the lake. Mary was enthusiastic about Loons, anyone that visited her home in Waverly could see by the collection of art and collectibles. Mary also enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, and all her grandchildren. She was a loving wife, mother, grandma, aunt, sister, and friend to many.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband Gary, and her parents Leola and Raymond Plamann. Mary is survived by her daughter Barbara (Kevin) Zupan of Montrose, sons Richard (Michelle) Probst of Howard Lake, and Robert (Jamie) Probst of Howard Lake; a sister Tina (Harold) Osterbauer; 5 grandchildren Richard, Kayla, Alexis, Sophia, Braden, Zach, and Sarah; and 1 great-grandchild Willow.

A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Montrose, Minnesota. A gathering will be held prior from 9-11 AM. Inurnment in the church cemetery. A luncheon will be held at the Montrose Community Center following the committal service.
