Mary Helen Bruhn (Sprinkle) age 84 of Buffalo, MN passed away peacefully on Friday, August 9, 2019. She was born October 26, 1934 to Virgil and Mary (Knaus) Sprinkle in Homestead, Florida.
Mary Helen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend to many. She grew up in Homestead, FL and graduated from Homestead High School and was involved in music including glee club, band and as a Drum Majorette in the marching band. She was also the organist at the First Baptist Church. She met her husband after she backed into his car in the church parking lot. They were married on May 16, 1954 at First Baptist Church, Homestead, Florida and moved to Minnesota in 1959. She was blessed with one son and four daughters.
Mary Helen served as the choir director, and played organ and piano for church services, wedding and funerals at Maple Plain Community Church for many years. She also played piano and arranged the service at Haven Homes in Maple Plain as part of the Ministry Team. She loved ministering to the residents at the home.
Mary Helen enjoyed baking, canning, and hair styling (giving many perms). She also found joy in raising her children, spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a great listener, encourager and prayer warrior.
Mary Helen had a special relationship with her personal caregiver (Lori Maus) who lovingly cared for her. She encouraged and blessed the residents in the care center where she was living. She also continued playing the piano.
Mary Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil Sprinkle and Mary Knaus Sprinkle; brother, George Sprinkle; sister, Margaret Skiles. She is survived by her husband, Donald of 65 years; children Donald (Michelle), Mary Kay (Dwight) Martin, Phyllis (Joel) Brue, Susan (Paul) Eckdahl, Carol (Doug) Olson; grandchildren Daniel Bruhn, Hannah Lansing, Tim Martin, Crystal Wilkinson, Amanda Hughes, Anna Thomas, Heather Dettman, Heidi Parker, Lydia Mlynarczyk, Tyrell Eckdahl and 22 great grandchildren; sisters, Barbara (Jimmy) Berry, Betty Skiles, Ruth (Al) Collins, Linda Watkins.
Memorial Service was held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 15, 2019 with a Gathering of family and friends from 5-7 p.m at the Iten Funeral Home, Delano.
