Mary T. Schumacher
December 18th, 2019
Mary Therese Schumacher age 81 of Loretto, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, December 18, 2019. Mary made her debut on June 22, 1938 when she was born to Therese and John Cavanaugh. The sixth of seven children, her whole life revolves around family. As a young child, she was struck with rheumatic fever that kept her inside while her siblings explored their farm in Plymouth. She might’ve missed out on learning how to swim and ride a bike, but one thing she did learn was just how important family is. This defined her life in every way.
When she married the love of her life, Ed, in 1958, they embarked on their greatest adventure together – creating the most wonderful, faithful family and being friends to everyone they encountered. Throughout this adventure, Mary and Ed farmed, danced, played cards, camped, and entertained. They thrived surrounded by family at their home in Loretto and often traveling to their residence in Arizona to escape cold Minnesota winters.
As a mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Mary couldn’t be topped. She never missed an opportunity to support her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids at various sports, activities, and milestones throughout the years. They were truly the most important things in her life.
Faith was also at the top of her list. A devout Catholic throughout her life, faith guided her through all of the joys and struggles she experienced.
Anyone who was fortunate enough to meet Mary knew how her smile lit up a room and her hugs were unparalleled. Her laugh resonates in our hearts and we know that her smile is shining down on us now.
She is survived by her loving husband Ed of 61 years, children Debbie (Bill) Tieri, Randy (Lisa) Schumacher, Roberta (Mark) Jordan, John Schumacher, Paul (Paula) Schumacher, 14 grandchildren: Nick (Charity) Tieri, Jenny (Mike) Hegedus, Brent (Heather) Tieri, Angie (Todd) Herder, Samantha (James) Nieken, Martin McNichols, Amanda (Daniel) Breen, Matt Jordan, Christy Jordan, Brianna, Brendon, Kaylee, Nathan, Jake.
