Michael Monahan
September 6, 2022
On Tuesday, September 6th, 2022, Michael Joseph Monahan passed away at the age of 68. Michael graduated from Wayzata High School in 1973. He started a successful business, Tall Timber Tree Experts, the same week that his first child was born in 1976. In his 4+ decades of practice, he became a true master of his craft, “flying through the air with the greatest of ease…fighting against Dutch elm disease.”
Mike was one of the hardest working people you’d be likely to meet, and he had an off-beat sense of humor and way of seeing things that would challenge the norm. He was a compassionate man with a good heart and was generous with his time and resources.
He was an accomplished hunter and fisherman. He loved his Harley and riding with those he loved. While not an active member of any particular church body, he sought the Lord over the course of his life and in his final years identified most closely with the tax collector of Luke 18 who beat his breast from afar saying, “God, have mercy on me, a sinner.”
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Jean. He is survived by his five children Matthew (Karen), Phillip, Katherine (Andreas), Lucas, and Chelsey; eight grandchildren; siblings Pat (Maggie), Marc, Paul, and Molly (Bob), as well as his
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, September 24th, from 2-5 at Carbone’s Grill, 2155 Commerce Blvd, Mound, MN. After the service, there will be a motorcycle ride to release his ashes. All are welcome to join.
Flowers, notes, etc. may be sent to 4729 Aberdeen Rd., Mound, MN 55364.
