The world has lost a wonderful woman who was an amazing wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Mona was extremely proud of her children and grandchildren in all of their accomplishments and achievements and recently became a great grandmother.

She was born July 19, 1935, in Montrose MN, the daughter of Douglas and Mary Ferrell. Mona was a graduate of Buffalo High School class of 1953, and married her high school sweetheart, Robert Campbell on May 12, 1956.

Mona was proud to be a homemaker. As a devoted mother she supported her four children and grandchildren in all their endeavors. This included countless hours of sitting at various sporting events where she was a vocal cheerleader and became the “team mom” for all of the athletes. The kids were involved in Girl Scouts or Boy Scouts, where Mona served as a leader and assisted the Scouting programs and activities in many aspects. As a staunch supporter and past president of the Virginia chapter of AFS, she encouraged local teens to become foreign exchange students. Mona loved to attend the local community music concerts where she enjoyed listening to the diversity of music offered. She was a participant, advocate, and promoter of the Elder Hostel programs.

Mona was a gregarious and inquisitive person, who easily made friends wherever her travels led her. She organized the family camping trips which included extensively traveling throughout the United States and Canada. She extended her travels internationally to places such as Southeast Asia, the Caribbean, South America, and Australia.

Mona was dedicated and loyal in all of her friendships. It brought Mona great joy to visit with neighbors, old friends and the new acquaintances she has met over the years. She has maintained contact with her High School classmates over the past 57 years.
Well known for her cooking skills, Mona could feed an army on a moments notice. Her potato salad recipe is legendary and she has passed on her culinary talents to both her daughters and granddaughter.

She was a passionate and voracious reader enjoying the adventures and escapes each page provided. Mona had a life long admiration and appreciation of all of nature’s splendor. One of her favorite past times was simply sitting at her kitchen table watching the wildlife activity outside her patio door.

She is survived by her husband of 53+ years, Robert Campbell of Butt, MN. Her legacy continues with her four children; Wendy Gustafson and husband Dan of Rochester, MN, Chris Campbell and his wife Corinne of Cloquet, MN, Mary Jo Jaques and her husband Michael of Henderson, NV, and Neil Campbell and his wife, Stacey of Livingston, WI.
