Paul B. Schoborg
March 8, 2025

Paul Bernard Schoborg, son of Bernard and Agnes (Ratermann) Schoborg was born September 2, 1941 in Ransom Township, Nobles County, Minnesota.

As the son of German immigrant parents living on a southern Minnesota farm, Paul learned early about hard work and dedication to family. He attended country schools until 5th grade when the family purchased a farm of their own and relocated near St Cloud. It was on this farm that Paul was able to get a horse and started a neighborhood saddle club. He graduated from St Cloud Tech in 1959 and served in the US Army for 3 years, honorably discharged in June 1962. After working at a paper mill, Paul was introduced to Land Surveying. He became a Registered Land Surveyor and opened his own business in the Delano area in 1984.

One of his favorite gifts was a guitar he received from his parents. Learning how to play that and many other guitars was a constant source of enjoyment for him. He was a member of several bands during his lifetime. A mutual interest in playing guitar brought Paul and Nancy Fett together and they were married March 5, 1977. Paul had a wonderful singing voice. He loved entertaining and hosting barn jams.

He is survived by his wife Nan, former wife Dorothy (Penny) Bergstraser and their combined children Kristina McElroy, Bernard (Ophelia) Schoborg, Rebecca Schoborg-Chirhart, Shawn (Chris) Borgert, Andrea (Kurt) Zniewski, Kelly (Steve) Brouwer and Joshua (Alyssa) Schoborg. He was also survived by 21  grandchildren: Mariel (Joey) Polk, Miranda McElroy, Margeaux McElroy, Marche’ (Justin) Grotte, Monica (Alex) Roche, Belinda (Michael) Fabbiani, Sherra (Jeff) McGowan, Sossina Chirhart, Daria Chirhart, Rebecca (Joe) Omann, Rachel (Andrew) Kulzer, Katherine (Sean Austin) Borgert, Nicholas (Alijah) Borgert, Elizabeth Borgert, Steven Borgert, David Borgert, Eli Zniewski, Joanna Brouwer, Henry Brouwer, Grant Brouwer, Lily Schoborg, 20 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, brother Wilhelm Schoborg, sister Frances Martini, sister-in-law Dorothy Schoborg, brothers-in-law Andy Becktold and Roger Martini, and one infant sister.

Paul loved his big beautiful family and didn’t hesitate to call any of his grandchildren on a whim.

He drove school bus for many years and became a favorite bus driver for many students. He earned his pilot’s license in 1974 and on clear days, he would peer into the sky and comment, “It looks like a good day to fly.” It was a clear day on Saturday, March 8, 2025 when his soul departed and he flew to his forever home in heaven.
