Stephen Sanford “Sandy” Hendrickson Jr. age 57, of Independence, Minnesota passed away peacefully at home with his loving family on Saturday, August 19, 2023. Sandy is survived by his beloved wife of 29 years, Dr. Jill M.
Hendrickson (nee Krus), daughter Emma Grace Helen, son John Sanford, parents Stephen Hendrickson and Nancy Nordeen (nee Armstrong), brothers Jeff Nordeen, Matthew Nordeen, Ben Nordeen, and sister Beth Bidon.
Sandy was born in Minneapolis on December 14, 1965, and grew up in Prior Lake. He attended Prior Lake High School where he was a member of the varsity hockey, tennis and cross country teams, graduating in 1984. He furthered his education after high school, receiving degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and Hamline University Law School. Sandy enjoyed professional success as a lifelong entrepreneur and business owner, and was widely known as an honorable, caring, and generous employer.
Sandy first met Jill in grade school and they started dating in high school. After marrying the love of his life in 1994, Sandy and Jill lived in Tennessee for ten years before returning home to Minnesota in 2004. Sandy was a kind, loving and deeply devoted husband, father, brother, son, and friend. He was a smart, articulate person with great mind and wonderful sense of humor.
Sandy was actively engaged with his family and children, and enjoyed writing up and running track workouts with Emma Grace and coaching John in hockey. His favorite times were spent with family and friends, highlighted by family travel in the mountains of North Carolina. Sandy is dearly missed and will always remain in our hearts, thoughts, and prayers. The world is less bright with his passing.
Family and friends were invited to the Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 150 Railway St. E, Loretto, MN on Saturday, August 26th, 2023, at 11 AM. A lunch followed. The family requests that donations, in lieu of flowers, be sent to Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
