Susan (Susie) M. Redmond, age 77, a lifetime resident of Delano, passed away July 12, 2016. She was born May 23, 1939 to John and Dorothy (Speckel) Gonsior, Jr.

A graduate of Delano High School, Susie had various jobs before she chose her career in the most challenging and rewarding career there is, Mother! Susie married the love of her life Tom Redmond on Sept 21, 1957 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Delano. Tom and Susie were blessed with three children, Steve, Michael and Pauline.

As well as being a devoted wife and mother, Susie received the Catholic Aid Association Community Service award. She volunteered in the St. Peter’s school kitchen, was involved with the parish fall festival and on the decorating committee.

Susie did much genealogy research on hers and Tom’s families. The copies of her books can be found at the Wright County Historical Society in Buffalo.

Susie loved nature and could tell you the name of any bird, flower or tree. She grew up on the family farm on Fountain Lake and continued growing things in her family garden for many years. She enjoyed traveling with her family, especially the North Shore where she collected agates. Susie loved to cook. Her favorite recipe was Poppyseed Kucken.

She was a kind and caring mother and grandmother. Her Christian faith was the rock she stood on. Her faith will continue to inspire her family and friends.

Susie loved visiting the people in Delano with her husband Tom. They were always together. They led a simple but joyous life. They were soul mates; they had found true love. Four short months after Tom’s passing, they are holding hands again.
