Theodore Ganzel

Theodore Archie Ganzel, age 90 of Maple Plain, formerly of Delano, died peacefully at Haven Homes nursing home in Maple Plain, MN on May 5th, 2015. Ted, his brothers and sister grew up in St Paul, MN. He served in the U. S. Army from 1943-1946. Ted married Mildred Wicklund and subsequently graduated from Minneapolis School of Arts and attended Northwestern College. Ted started Ganzel Sign Company in the basement of their home and painted signs in the Minneapolis area and various places around the world for over 50 years. He and Millie raised five children. Ted enjoyed doing artwork that expressed his joy in the gospel and cartoons showing his sense of humor. Ted was preceded in death by his parents Virgil and Calista Ganzel, sister Katherine Heylman, brothers Robert and Jack, grandchild Reid Allmaras and great-grandchild Max Ganzel. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Millie Ganzel; children Rich (Rosie) Ganzel, Harvey (Gretchen) Ganzel, John Ganzel, Ginny (Mike) Strole and Dwayne (Nancy) Ganzel; grandchildren Amber Ganzel, Joy (Andy) Hummell, Alex (Joy) Ganzel, Laurel Ganzel, Alec Ganzel, Jenna Ganzel, Hannah Ganzel and Natalie Ganzel; great-grandchildren Stella Hummell, Grant Hummell, Vivienne Ganzel and Abigail Ganzel. Visitation is from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, May 8th at the Iten Funeral Home, Delano, MN. A celebration of Ted’s life was held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday May 9th at Maple Plain Community Church, 1815 Budd Ave N, Maple Plain, MN. Memorial donations may be made to Maple Plain Community Church Missions.
